A successful AI pilot proves the technology works, but it doesn't guarantee adoption or ROI.
True ROI requires a repeatable framework and cultural behavior change. As a hands-on practitioner, I don't just deliver recommendations and leave, I partner with your team through building custom enablement tools, leadership coaching, manager enablement, and guiding execution until AI becomes a seamless part of how your teams actually work.
Close to the work, clear on the outcome.
Isthmus Advisory bridges the gap between planning and execution by operationalizing strategy into practical workflows that match how teams actually get work done.
Get clear on the problem
Establish a unified understanding of the root problem to ensure every solution is targeted and high-impact.
Implement culturally aligned change
Develop a change roadmap while securing alignment on immediate priorities, key owners, and the new habits rooted in your team's values.
Operationalize and sustain behaviors
Integrate the change into daily workflows, adjust performance systems to reinforce accountability, and embed the updated behavioral norms into the long-term operational rhythm.
Three ways to work together
You don't need another AI strategy deck, you need someone who has actually built the tools, knows where adoption breaks, and will stay through the rollout. Isthmus Advisory offers a fast, honest starting point and a deeper partnership for organizations putting AI to work. Let's build together.
Isthmus Advisory offers three engagements, from a five-minute diagnostic to an ongoing partnership.
A short, focused diagnostic across the four dimensions that determine whether AI adoption actually sticks: leadership alignment, workforce readiness, process and data foundation, and tools and governance. Takes about five minutes and gives you an honest read on where your organization actually stands.
Best for: leaders who want a clear-eyed starting point before committing budget or headcount to an AI rollout.
An engagement that combines executive stakeholder coaching with hands-on tool-building and manager enablement. Andrea works directly with leadership, hands on help with the build, trains the managers who have to make it stick, and stays through execution so adoption survives past the pilot.
Best for: organizations that have validated their AI proof-of-concept and need to de-risk their investment by scaling workforce adoption.
Need a narrower focus? You can access implementation expertise through standalone, project-based deliverables. Built based on how your team actually works, not in theoretical models.

ROI
The ROI of AI adoption isn't a theory, it's a measurable line item. A pilot that never scales is a sunk cost with nothing to show for it. This is the work that turns AI from your organization's most visible risk into an actual competitive advantage.
Change management and organizational silos were identified as a top-three barrier to scaling AI, behind concerns about the technology itself and regulatory risk.
Why the pilot works and the rollout doesn't
Most AI pilots succeed due to a motivated team, a contained scope, and a few weeks of dedicated attention. People are excited, leadership greenlights the wider rollout, and then it stalls.
The pilot succeeded because a small group built the human systems around the tool without realizing they were doing it. None of that scales automatically. The rollout fails not because the technology got worse, but because the organization tried to scale it without scaling the human infrastructure that made the pilot work in the first place.
Enabling leaders
Executives set the AI strategy. Individual contributors experiment with the tools. But the layer in between, the managers who are supposed to translate that strategy into daily practice, usually gets lost in the shuffle.
That's one of the real bottlenecks in most AI rollouts, and it's rarely named. Fix the manager layer and AI adoption stops being a top-down mandate or a scattered grassroots experiment, and starts being how the team actually works.

Andrea Barnes, Founder
Andrea Barnes has spent nearly 20 years in HR and organizational development, from early-stage startups to Fortune 50 companies across tech, biotech, insurance, and distribution, including both privately held and private equity-backed businesses. Most recently, she worked in global tech where she built multiple AI-powered tools that took manual, multi-hour processes down to minutes. These are the kind of tool she now builds directly into client engagements. Earlier, she was VP of People for a global biotech where she ran the people function end to end.
Andrea is a practitioner, not just an advisor. Whatever the transformation, she gets close to the actual work: building the tools, piloting the approach, and staying fluent in the technology involved, including hands-on, working and building experience with Claude, Google Gemini, ChatGPT, and Microsoft Copilot. She brings that fluency into every engagement instead of leaving it on a slide.
Andrea holds a Master's in Psychology of Leadership from Penn State University, a BBA in HR Management from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, and is Bridges certified in change management. She lives in Madison, WI with her husband, their two kids, and a very opinionated goldendoodle.
